Gaerllwyd chambered tomb at Shirenewton, Monmouthshire
The remains of Gaerllwyd tomb consist of a large capstone resting on three upright stones, with seven other smaller stones whose original function in the monument is not very clear. The first photograph shows the monument looking towards the south with the capstone at the back. The scale rod is 1m long, divided into 20cm stripes.
The second photograph of Garllwys, looking towards the west, shows that the monument standing at the bottom of a low rise in the ground. All the other elements of the landscape, such as the hedges and the road, would not have been there in prehistoric times.
