CAIRNS

Waun Cyrn on the Black Mountains

This is a photograph of a cairn at Waun Cyrn on the Black Mountains overlooking Llanelli Hill near Abergavenny, Monmouthshire. This cairn has no trace of a kerb or a cist showing. The scale pole is 2m long in 20cm stripes.

The photograph on the left is a close-up of part of a cairn at Cwm Bwchel on the southern edge of the Black Mountains near Abergavenny, Monmouthshire. It shows the cist in the centre of the cairn, as well as some of the exposed stones of the mound. The scale pole is 1m long in 20cm stripes.
