Projects Manager: Permanent.

Salary: £30,600 pa. 35 hours a week.

Location: South Wales

The Glamorgan-Gwent Archaeological Trust is a charitable company that undertakes advisory, archaeological and public education works for a wide range of organisations (see www.ggat.org.uk). The Trust is a Registered Organisation with the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists.

We are looking for a person to work closely with our Archaeological Services team manager in successfully securing and delivering a wide range of archaeological projects. We operate from our offices in Swansea and Newport and staff may also work from home where appropriate.


The position:

We are looking for a person to work closely with our Archaeological Services team manager in successfully securing and delivering a wide range of archaeological projects. We operate from our offices in Swansea and Newport and staff may also work from home where appropriate.


You will assist with the overall development of the team in line with the company’s forward strategies and objects. This will include periodically assisting with reviewing and developing practices and procedures and preparing related documentation and delivering training.


The work will include the preparation of written schemes of investigation, project designs, specifications and costings, undertaking archaeological projects, and preparing the reports on different types of archaeological work and the compilation and deposition of archaeological archives, along with the supervision of other archaeologists undertaking such works.


Other aspects of this role include ensuring that projects are delivered within safe-working regimes and that information on outcomes and outputs is made available to wider communities by diverse means.


You will also represent the Trust in the archaeological and wider community, including public presentations of work.


The post holder:

You will be a Member (MCIfA accredited) of the Chartered Institute of Archaeologists and therefore have the attested competencies of such professional accreditation.
